Who Let The "Stinky" Cheese In The Room?

Hi there, {!firstname_fix},

Do you like that picture? What do you see?

Here's what I had the privilege of seeing just last night: a phenomenal group of 35 women
coming together to build into each other's lives, share some challenges, find solutions, and build
each other up.

Wow. It was powerful.

Last night, I had the honor of hosting the 1st Houston Women In Business Night Out with my dear
friends, Jennifer Haubein, Sara Blumenfeld and Tandelyn Weaver.

The intention for the 4 of us was to bring together women who were tired (and darn sick of...)
networking events that meant you showed up, said hi, left, and never made any powerful
partnerships because of it. To me, the average networking event today seems that way...like a
lump of stinky, smelly cheese. And frankly, I don't want to be around that.

Now, I'm sure I'd meet nice people. And surely I'd have an opportunity to find ways to connect.
But unfortunately, I found more people wanting to create a "pitch fest" instead of listening and
blessing others' lives at these types of events.

So for me, these events became like "stinky cheese". I just would rather not want to get near
these types of events.

As I left last night's event, it occurred to me, I wouldn't have heard "Wow, I've never been to such
a powerful group! This was not like anything I expected from a networking event! When is the
next one?" if they weren't thrilled out of their stockings for more events like this - ones where we
were intentional to uplift, support, listen, encourage, share our solutions willingly.

So here's my question: When you network, how do you "show up"? Do you come ready to hand
out a card to each person that breathes and when they do, do you smell like a stinky cheese?

Or are you ready to build and invest in the lives of the people that come into your life and show
up as a blessing to them?

I want you to think through how you "show up" this week. Who do you want to be? How do you
want to be known in your industry? The answers to these questions will reveal a huge portion of
how you stand out from the crowd and how the crowd will see and react to you.

You may or may not be close enough to come to the next Houston Women In Biz event on April
7th BUT you can begin to strategize with other Momprenaires at The Social here at
Momprenaire. Invest wisely - both your time and money... and when you do, your presence AND
pocket book will be greatly appreciative. ;)

To your continued success,
Maruxa

P.S. Next week's newsletter will address how we "show up" online - especially when we try to
get joint venture partners promoting us!
